Our last day in Italy was spent exploring Rome. Hands down, the coolest place we saw was the Colosseum. It’s crazy how old it is and how well it has stood the test of time. Walking in there for the first time was definitely an awe inducing moment.
We also headed to the Vatican where we went to the Sistine Chapel (amazing) and St. Peter’s Basilica (no sign of the Pope) and then explored the ancient Roman ruins. We had the most incredible tour guide who knew EVERYTHING, and made the experience that much more valuable. We actually walked away learning something new!
We ended the day by having a great pasta dinner in Rome and then headed out the following morning at 3am. Yikes! I’m still in shock over how quickly the trip flew by. It was definitely not relaxing, but we were able to do and see so much – as well as visit places that I’ve only ever dreamed of seeing. I loved being able to explore these places with my boyfriend and our sisters – especially since this was the first time we’ve ever gone out of the country together as a couple in SIX years. Eek!
Overall, if you’re considering a trip to Italy – DO IT. I’m an honest believer in the fact that you will never regret traveling and seeing new places. (In all honesty, I’d rather spend my money on traveling than clothes – HAH). I loved the vibes of Italy; the rich colors, the coffee and wine, the people, the fashion, the company! The fact that we went on a group tour made it possible for us to do and see so much in such a short amount of time. Many of the actual tours that we went on really helped to define the trip, so if you can hop on a couple of tours (especially in the major cities) – you will take a lot more out of it.
I’m already itching to go somewhere else! Anyone have any good suggestions?
