We learned we were headed to Assisi just a few days before we went and none of us had any idea what to expect. We were all pleasantly surprised by the glorious views, since the city sits on top of a (very large) hill. Everywhere you looked, you saw flowers. And they had the cutest downtown area, where we bought a meringue the size of our heads.
The church here was probably my favorite one, with the ceilings covered in a beautiful turquoise color instead of the usual gold that we saw throughout most places in Italy. It felt like you were looking up at a Monet painting.
An afternoon well spent, indeed!
