The first day on our trip, we were in Memphis. Home of Sun Studios, The Peabody, Beale Street and Graceland, Memphis was an amazing experience. The morning we landed, we also stopped at the Lorraine Motel turned Civil Rights Museum (where MLK, jr. was shot). I really liked Memphis, mainly cause I’m a closet history buff and the city was stock full of elements that really changed the way we know the world.
I mean, Elvis! Come on!

Sun Studios pretty much killed me. I mean, I’ve been a fan of Johnny Cash since 2005 when the movie Walk the Line came out, and ever since, it’s been a bit of a dream of mine to head to Sun Studios and see where it all started. Obviously, when it came time to planing our trip, this iconic “birthplace of rock and roll” was the first on the list of things to do. If you’re ever in Memphis, this is a great thing to see!
It’s funny, but for all the traveling I’ve done lately, I still hate living out of a suitcase. I despise not having my favorite choices, and it’s usually my luck that I pack totally wrong for the weather in my destination. These Victoria’s Secret pants (that I scored at a thrift store for a dollar) wound up being a saving grace. Not only were they flattering, but they weren’t too tight, which allowed me to really enjoy where we were. Know the feeling?
