Marianne and I decided to check out Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty one day. We had checked the weather report the night before and it had said it would rain later in the afternoon, so we woke up early and headed over to Liberty State Park to catch a ferry to the islands.

Of course, as soon as we got there, the storm clouds started rolling in and by the time we got to the Statue, it was pouring. Marianne and I rushed to the gift shop where we got $8 ponchos to protect us (and our clothes) from the rain. I still whipped out my camera a few times in order to take a couple pictures.
The best thing about the rain? It wasn’t hot out! I even felt cold a few times which I much preferred over sweating my butt off and complaining about the heat. We didn’t get to go into the Statue this time…I’ve only been up there once and we only managed to get to the top of the base. Apparently, to get into the crown or the torch, you’ve got to get your tickets a few months in advance. Oy.
Outfit:
  • Dress, Justine’s closet. I’m in love with this shade of blue…so pretty!
  • Scarf, bought in Europe.
  • Flats, another one of my Mandee finds.
  • Sunglasses, bought at the flea market.
  • Rain Poncho, A NECESSITY!
Has anyone else ever experienced rain when they were visiting a national landmark?! It makes it so difficult, but it gives you a really great memory!
