Awards seasons is upon us and I am STOKED. I usually spend the last part of the year watching all the movies that are getting buzzed about, and then my friends/family/neighbors and I all get together for a massive party on the night of the Oscar’s.
Sooooo, that being said, of course I watched the Globes and of course I drooled (and laughed) over many of the fashion choices. I was impressed though, there were FAR more hits than misses for me this year
Yays:
Emily Blunt in Michael Kors. I LOVE this dress and I think she works it so well. The color, the high-neck, the cutouts; it’s perfect! She even looks like a Golden Globe!

Claire Danes in Versace. This woman just had a BABY. And she looks amazing! My favorite part of this dress was when Homeland won for Best Drama, and the entire cast/crew went up on stage, Danes was the only person who stood out from the crowd. Good choice.

Anne Hathaway in Chanel. I think I’m just really obsessed with her hair cut at the moment. I’m convinced it’s making everything look good. The dress is super simple but it works and she looks amazing in it.

Jennifer Garner in Vivienne Westwood. She came on stage and I kind of grabbed my boyfriend out of excitement over her dress. This is just one classy lady.

Julianne Moore in Tom Ford. Killer dress. I love the asymmetrical coloring, which is super flattering on her (and most) body type.

Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad. I love, love, love this look! The lace, the illusion, the hair! She knocked it out of the park.

Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen. Probably one of my favorite looks of the entire night. She just looks so comfortable! And I love that this is a black dress, but it’s SO far from being boring.

Kristen Bell in Jenny Packham. The pregnant star picked the perfect dress for her changing figure last night. Everything about it was great; the color, the collar and the baby glow she rocked the entire night. Go, Veronica Mars, go!

Marion Cotillard in Dior. I love that she decided to take a risk and wear a short (and orange! and velvet!) gown. Everything about this look compliments her, making it an amazing choice.

Naomi Watts in Zac Posen. Too bad this picture doesn’t show the epic cutout on the back of the dress. I loved the color too. It made her stand out, a lot!

Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta. This was her Cinderella moment and she certainly took advantage of it. Loved the color and I thought the pearls were a sweet touch.

Eva Longoria in Pucci. Giving Angelina a REAL run for her money!
On the fence:
Lucy Liu in Carolina Herrera. I’m loving the structure of the dress (very Marie Antoinette) and I love the pale blue. But the flowers? Kind of reminiscent of a curtain.
Kerry Washington in Miu Miu. I think I’m just not sold on the bottom of this dress. Maybe if it were longer?

Kristen Wiig in Michael Kors. It’s almost TOO plain for me.
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior. The cone boobs are really throwing me off on this dress. I like everything else about it though.
Nays:
Amanda Seyfried in Givenchy. I think she’s just way too pale in this dress. It washes her out; makes her look forgettable. I was also very unimpressed with her attitude on the red carpet. Anyone else agree?
Rosario Dawson in Antonio Berardi. Maybe it’s something about the peplum? I just don’t think this dress is all that flattering. The color is nice, though.

Sienna Miller in Erdem. I’m just not a fan of anything about this dress. Maybe it would be better if the color were a bit more…January?

Halle Berry in Versace. Ulgh, just ulgh. And please, put that leg away. You’re not Angelina Jolie.

Lena Dunham in Zac Posen. I just don’t feel as though this dress is age-appropriate for her. The cut and the color look as though it would be better for someone much older. Also, whenever she walked, it was clear she was uncomfortable in her heels. I’m all for looking beautiful; but when you’re making the audience literally feel your pain, you’re doing something wrong.

Jessica Chastain in Calvin Klein. I just don’t understand why she would pick this number. The sea foam green color is good, but the cut of the dress just made her look super frumpy. Not a good choice. At least she went home with an award!
