I’m not a big fan of summer rainstorms. I’m a firm believer in that the summer is hot and dry, and the winter is cold and wet. However, this summer seems to be all over the place with the weather. We’re dealing with humidity like crazy (a veryyyy new occurrence for Southern California) and now, rainstorms. I’m not one to complain so much about the weather, but I can’t stand how it just can’t seem to make up it’s mind! The one good thing about this rainy (and humid and hot) day was that I had work (hence the all Marciano attire)…which meant that I was able to be inside all day! Hurrah!
I scored these JC wedges from Buffalo Exchange for a mere $55 (regular price: $165). I’d been eyeing them when they were first introduced, since I liked the twist on the classic wedge. Needless to say that when I saw them in the store, I snatched them up the second I could. I’ve learned my lesson enough times at Buffalo…if you don’t grab it the second you see it, someone else will and then you’ll really kick yourself about it later.

Time for a little rant about identity ::
I’ve been trying to come up with a “theme” for this blog…trying to define myself as a blogger and what kind of content I want to deliver to readers. I’m definitely not about the price tags on items and I don’t have a ton of DESIGNER pieces in my wardrobe. Most of the stuff I own I’ve bought on sale or at thrift/consignment shops…which has really influenced my outlook on fashion and personal style. I’m in it for the treasure hunt. Nothing really beats that feeling of finding a gem for $2.99, you know? I keep thinking about the slogan I came up with when I first started S&S: “Bringing a little bit of glamour into everyday life”. It’s just as easy to look like a million bucks in an outfit bought for $5 as it is to look that way in an outfit bought for $200.
SO, essentially, what I’ve come up with is this ::
I want more girls to feel good about themselves. I want people to be inspired about what they can DO. I’m a twenty-one year old college student, and I try to challenge myself on a regular basis to bring an element of class and sophistication into every outfit I wear. No one should ever look in a mirror and say to themselves: “I can’t wear this to school, people will make fun of me”. Wear what you want because it makes you happy; be whoever it is you want to be. I love feeling good about myself, and I want to encourage other young women that it’s so easy to look and feel good, even with limited resources! I guess what it comes down to is that I want to be the kind of person who writes about the treasures I find, and about how any girl can bring a little bit of glamour into everyday life, with even the smallest of budgets. I’m an ordinary girl and I want to be there for other girls who sometimes feel as though they can’t necessarily compare to the big-time bloggers out there. We all love Leandra and Rumi, but in all honesty, I can’t afford anything they wear! I find that this can sometimes make getting dressed a little bit discouraging, even if I am only looking to them for inspiration…
I’m going to keep working on where I want this blog to go, so please stay with me through this journey! I would love any kind of feedback from readers. Positive or negative, it’s all helpful and it will really help me develop!
