Top: Thrifted GAP ($3); Cutoffs: Vintage Levi’s, distressed by me ($5)
My summer of DIY projects would not be complete without the perfect pair of cut-off shorts. I went through quite a few pairs before I hit gold, and now I wear these at least once a week.
Again, I used a tutorial from A Pair and a Spare, since she makes everything seem so easy! Before I came across her tutorial, I watched some YouTube videos that lead to me essentially sacrificing so many pairs of jeans because they didn’t come out just right.
My main issue was finding the perfect pair of jeans. To find the exact color and style that I wanted, I wore  a skirt to the thrift store and just shuffled into the pants in front of the mirror (my store doesn’t have dressing rooms). This easy technique helps you determine just how high the rise will be, and if the thigh will be wide enough to give you some extra room (skinny jeans don’t really work for this look).
Overall, I’m obsessed with the final outcome…and plan on making many more pairs throughout the summer. I lived in my cutoffs when we were in Florida!
