With Valentine’s Day tomorrow, it’s no wonder that all I’ve been able to think about the past few days has been my relationship. This is the first Valentine’s Day, in our entire time being a couple, that we won’t be together…and this bothers me more than I’d like to really admit. I tell my guy that I love him every single day, and for the most part, we do a really good job of taking time out to spend exclusively with one another.
But, despite this, I’m a hopeless romantic and the idea of spending Valentine’s Day without a big kiss from my favorite guy makes me feel ridiculously sad…to the point that when he dropped me off at my house last week, I broke down in tears… (lame, right?)
So instead of sitting here moping around because I won’t get to see him tomorrow (wahhhh!), I’ve decided to compile a list of things about my Trevor that make him so wonderful…
a virtual “kiss” to the one I love SO much…
1. You always makes me laugh. Whether it be your signature voices, or your ridiculous dance moves, you always knows exactly what to say to put me in a better mood. It’s a talent, I tell you.
2. You know that the key to my heart is a killer pair of shoes…and even more than this, you can spot a pair of Louboutins a mile away (I’ve trained you well…).
3. Boy, you rock the scruff better than anyone I’ve ever seen.
4. Your hugs. The best in the world.
5. Your hands. I feel at home when they’re holding mine.
6. The fact that my head fits perfectly on your shoulder. I could stay there for hours.
7. How you learned my favorite song, “The Wind Cries Mary” by Jimi Hendrix, on the guitar. I don’t think you’ll ever understand what a big deal that was for me.
8. You knows how to surprise me better than anyone. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, beats those days where the doorbell rings and you’re standing there with a huge smile on your face.
9. We never really had to waste time getting to know each other. It all seemed right, we were natural from the very beginning.
10. You held my hair back…and you didn’t complain about it. Even more impressive, you didn’t hold it against me afterwards.
11. You listen to me, even though I tend to talk a lot about nothing.
12. You looks GOOD in a suit. My very own James Bond.
13. You sing in the car…and expect me to sing with you.
14. You accept the fact that I can’t sit still…and are always there to greet me whenever I return home from wherever it is I ran off to.
15. How we’re both happy just sitting on the couch sharing a tub of hummus.
16. The fact that in the past four years, we’ve both grown up so much together. And instead of growing apart, as most people do, we’ve grown closer.
17. The fact that your friends love you as much as I do. Seriously, you should see the way they look at you.
18. You always walk me to my car. Always. Even if it’s the middle of the night…in the rain.
The list literally goes on and on…
But most importantly, you’re my best friend.
You’re there whenever I need you, a phone call or a text message away. When you’re home, you’re right down the street. Whenever we reunite after not seeing each other for a little while, you’re always prepared with a hug and a kiss.
People always ask me how we’ve made it this long, four years (that’s 1430 days!!!). It’s a long time, and even to me it sounds like an eternity. But the truth of it is so simple: you make me ridiculously happy. Each day you ring my doorbell, smiling when I answer, my heart swells.
Trevor, if you’re reading this, I love you. SO much. And I continue to love you more and more each day. You’re an amazing person, with a HUGE heart, who somehow found something special in me all those years ago (to my incredible luck).
I could never ask for a better boyfriend and I can’t imagine my life without you in it.
