Today, I went to one of the local middle schools to help my friend Jillian out with some girls she is working with. I wrote a book with a few friends my senior year of High School and ever since I’ve been fortunate enough to talk to younger girls about the transition between 8th and 9th grades. We talked about going into High School and the fears or concerns that they might have had. I’ve found that girls are so much more open to talking about their concerns these days than I was when I was 13 and about to be a freshman. For more information on the book, click HERE, HERE or visit the website HERE.

And as for Jillian, I’m so jealous that she wasn’t a counselor when I was going through school, she was amazing with them! At least I get her as a friend though, that works for me.

My mom told me to “dress for success” when I left this morning and even though I laughed at her, I kind of took her words to heart.

Daisy wanted to be featured as well. She’s very proud of her purple collar (even though I found one at a different pet store which actually had a daisy charm on it, which I’m planning on buying for her in the near future…). You can’t see from here, but her name tag has pink rhinestones on it. She’s just mini fashionista. PS: we took her back to see the guy who sold her to us, and he doesn’t think she’ll be getting much bigger. My dad is now saying we bought a guinea pig, not a dog. Pish-posh. She’s my lovebug.

Outfit:
  • Top, Target. Thrifted at the local Goodwill, with the tags still on it. I love the ruffles on the front and it’s perfect because it hasn’t shrunk in the wash! Horray!
  • Skirt, Old Navy. I love the two buttons. It’s like it’s a wanna-be pair of jeans, but it’s totally not. Bonus: it has pockets. I bought this skirt in two patterns, just because I loved the cut of it. Not to mention it’s a good length for my short-ness. I have a feeling I’ll be pulling it out a lot this summer.
  • Shoes, Cathy Jean. I wrote/pictured them a few posts down. I LOVE THEM. Would heartily recommend them to anyone looking for a good pair of nude wedges for the summer.
  • Assorted bangles and some friendship bracelets Miss. Gabby made for me on Mother’s Day.

After the middle school I took a short trip over to the local library where I picked up some books to read. I LOVE THE LIBRARY. It’s not even funny. I go in there to look and I walk out with ten books that are due in three weeks.

In this case though, I picked up some easy reading, as well as biographies on Audrey Hepburn and Marie Antoinette! I’m so excited to start them!
That being said, I’m officially done with my sophomore year in college. It’s so weird how quickly time has flown and I’m amazed that summer 2010 is already upon us. I’m hoping its a good one.
I can’t be too excited though,
I’ve got to wake up for work at 6:30 tomorrow morning. FML.
