The second (and last) day that we spent in Venice was a day filled with exploring. We wound up walking over 7 miles – that city is so easy to get lost in (in the best way). I’m still in awe of how beautiful the water was. We wound up taking a turn and finding ourselves on a small pathway that went right to the water’s edge-and we walked along that route for a very, very long time, just taking in the view. It took everything in me to not jump into the bright blue water.
Along the way, we found a walls and scenery that we couldn’t help but stop and use for photographs. Everything in Venice is so beautiful and rustic that wandering gives you so many opportunities to discover the beauty of the city. At one point, we were invited to go onto the roof top of a multiple story building where we were given the most spectacular (and I mean SPECTACULAR) view of Venice. It really took my breath away.
Throughout the day, we revisited the Piazza San Marco (where we fed the pigeons!), stopped for some wine (multiple times), really got a hang of where we were going (no easy feat), took a tour of a music conservatory (which was an old palace) – and then in evening, reconnected with our group for (another) pizza dinner.
Overall – I LOVED Venice. Everything about it. It was a brand new city that I had never been to before, and I was definitely not disappointed by anything about it.
