It’s no secret that I work at Guess by Marciano.
My clothes from there make appearances on this blog far more than any other retailer and when I’m bored, I often find myself drooling over new items on the website.
It’s a bit of an obsession really.
Trevor makes fun of me because more often than not, I come home from work with a brand new purchase.
Anywayyyyys. At work the other day, my fabulous manager Elizabeth and I decided to take a dress and style it in two different ways. A lot of the Marciano dresses tend to be super dressy and people hesitate about buying them because they think the item can’t be worn in any other way.
We are here to help!
We took the Joan Pencil Dress in High Definition Blue and reworked it so it can be worn in more ways than you would think!
The Dress:

I’m so in love with this dress, it’s beyond ridiculous. It looks 1000x better on the body than it does on the mannequin. It hugs your curves in all the right places and has the power to make you feel sexy while showing hardly any skin. Perfect!

Here’s one of the fancy pictures I found online. It’s not purple. I swear. It’s the prettiest shade of blue that I ever did see!

Style #1:

The is the perfect look for interviews or a day at the office. This would be the perfect outfit for a shift at Marciano!
We paired it with the Shredded Cardigan in Black and with the Metal Tube Stretch Belt. Just by adding these pieces we were able to casualize this dress
Here are closer images of the items for you to look at:

We opted to throw a cardigan over the dress to try and minimilize the effect of the fabric. Since it’s very shiny and structured, it is easy to fall into the trap of “Oh, I can only wear this to weddings and nice dinners.” By throwing a light fabric over it, we were able to transform the dress into something you can wear to multiple different events. Hooray!

Marciano belts are perfectly stretchy and do a great job of minimizing the body. By adding the belt, we were able to bring a little bit of hardware to the waist, which also acts as a distraction to the formality of the dress itself.

A closer look at the poncho:

Sadly, this poncho is no longer available for sale online. Call your local Guess by Marciano to inquire.
We have a few left in stock at the store and every time I see it, I want it more and more.
We paired it with the same belt that we used in the first outfit, which was able to bring in the volume of the poncho. By adding the printed fabric, we were able to once again bring the dress down a notch and create a look that would be perfect for a date or a night on the town.
The poncho is a great substitute for a coat, as it is a little bit more playful and adds more sass to the outfit than an ordinary coat would. Even better, there are so many different ways to wear it so you’ll have tons of options depending on how you are feeling when getting dressed.
The more I think about it, the more I think I’ll be buying this baby the next time I work. I’m beginning to feel like it’s a “gotta-have”.
So there you have it! Two ways of wearing one amazing Guess by Marciano dress!
Special thanks to Elizabeth for taking these pictures…

It’s so much fun to mix and match!
